Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar energy system owners for the electricity they add to the grid.

On-Grid Solar Electricity system has both “Export” electricity and “Import” electricity units and In case of the Net Metering Scheme monthly electricity bill is calculated for the difference and excess export units are carried forward to next month. For example, in a given month no of export units recorded is 200 and import units is 150 then the bill is calculated for the difference of 50 units (200-150). Similarly if the Export is more than the Import the excess is carried forward to next month.
